Horses at their BEST with People in NEED

“My horses are happiest and at their best when working with people who are in need” Missy Wryn, Training the Whole Horse® & HorseMAREship™ founder states.  “Needs ranging from debilitating physical conditions such as Lupus, Fibromyalgia, Chronic Fatigue and Depression to Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD) and the often added component of Hyperactivity (ADHD) plus the emotional pain that accompanies these conditions. My horses support a vast array of people from veterans coping with reintegration to civilian life to children as young as 8 years old and adjudicated youth who are navigating the processes of the juvenile justice system.  Through my Training the Whole Horse® & HorseMAREship™ methods and techniques I have horses that respond to people in safer, gentle ways that people need in the moment of their weakness”, Missy continues.  “The focus of my horse training career was to train safer horses for bitless riding on the foundation of Do No Harm using relationship based, gentle training techniques which has been very successful.  But the greater success now is the horses gentling people through their strong non-judgmental support.  The horse can calm the mind of the OCD, of the ADHD and lift the pain of Fibromyalgia and Lupus if only for a moment while sharing breath nose to nose with the horse.  It’s not always about riding, but I do offer that when the time is right, especially for the children who seek the thrill of movement on top of horse.  The greater support however is the horse loving the person unconditionally, non-judgmentally right where the person is in that moment which fundamentally changes how the person feels about their life and ultimately their future.  When given an opportunity to experience joy and love our bodies respond with less pain and hope that has been proven to facilitate healing”.
