  1. I have a very high strung 5 year old. Do you have any recommendations on transitioning to a bitless?

    • I suggest you watch my Training the Whole Horse video series on my website which is free, no login, no membership, just free to watch http://www.site.missywryn.com/Missy_Wryn_s_Horse_Training.html. The basis for bitless is your horse’s emergency handbrake. Teach that on the ground as the safe and loving place you go when you are in trouble and translate that under saddle. My videos go into great detail. A 5 year old will settle between the age of 7-9 so in the meantime you need to be consistent, always gentle but firm when necessary – consistency consistency consistency shutting your horse down with the emergency handbrake when he/she is not listening and instant release for the right answer. Hope this helps. Visit my website http://missywryn.com/ where there’s videos, articles and lots of info how to transition from bit to bitless – even a mini book under Articles & News how to do it.
